December 17, 2010

1. Minutes
This week, we've been doing last minute preparations for the dance that is coming up Friday. Since school was cancelled Thursday, we will sell tickets for the last time in home room Friday. We also discussed the District Conference and Dodge ball Competition at Terry Sandford. Also this week, SGA went to Urban Ministries.

2. Old Business
This Friday is the dance, so we are making sure we have everything done. On Tuesday, SGA went to help out Urban Ministries. It was very successful.

3. New Business
Some of our SGA students went along with Mr. Huffman to the District Conference, which was held at Greys Creek High School.

4. Committee Reports

Decoration Commitee: Instead of paying for new decorations, everybody in the committee has decided to bring decorations that they already have.

DJ Committee: Everybody has decided on a DJ. He is already paid for, as well.

Refreshment Committee: We have decided to not have pizza at the dance. Instead, we will just have sodas, chips, and snacks.

1. Mintues
Our main focus for this week was the dance. We have broken up in our committees to figure out the decorations, music, and refreshments. We have also finished out Christmas Boxes with money attached.

2. Old Business
We have figured out most of the things for the dance like, who's bringing what decorations, we're close to a DJ, and we're still working on the freshments.

3. Committee Reports

D.J Comittee:
We have found a DJ and are considering if we want him. Meanwhile, we are still looking around.

Decoration Committee:
We have decided decorations that we wanted to use for the dance. Everybody has designated things to bring, so no money will needed to be spent.

Refreshment Comittee:
We are still deciding on what things that will be served, and how much it will be. We're very close to coming to a decision on exactly what foods are going to be at the dance.

Refreshments- November 16, 2010

From the many refreshments we talked about, we have narrowed them down to just a few. For some of them, we will need to discuss and decide later. The following choices are:
  • sodas, juice, water
  • individual bags of chips
  • pizza (which will be furthered discussed)
  • cookies
  • slushies (possibly)

Technological Ideas

We have come up with a list of things that we think can be improved or added to our school. They are the following:
  • colored ink printers
  • training for smartboards
  • unblocking FSU service
  • flip flop printers (first and third floors)
  • finger print check-in (upstairs and downstairs)

November 5, 2010

1. Minutes
Our main topic has been the December dance. We have discussed ideas on how to promote it, the ticket prices, when to start selling tickets, the activity list, payments, and dress codes. Other topics we have talked about was Operation Christmas Child, and ideas in which we can do for our community service.

2. Old Business
Now that we have figured out which group everybody is in, we can now start bringing in gifts to put in the boxes, and donations to ship the boxes out.

For the December dance, we have figured out our main topics.
  • Date: December 17, 2010
  • Place: E.E Smith Recreation Center
  • Time: 7-10 P.M.
Other things that we will talk about will be the dress code, and the number of guest one person can bring. Ticket sells will be $5 for students that attend Cross Creek Early College, and $7 for guest. We have decided that we will start promoting and selling tickets after the break.
We have also decided on some ways to promote the dance. We will  promote by word of mouth, Facebook, posters, and text messages.

3. New Business
For our community service, we have many different ideas, which are the following:
  • PetsMart
  • Urban Ministries
  • Adopt A Highway
4. Committee Reports
During the meetings, the DJ, refreshment, and decoration committees have broken apart and have been discussing ideas and making lists of what we can do to help at the dance.

1. Minutes
This week, we have talked about the December dance, started planning ideas for Operation Christmas Child, and our first SGA after school meeting.

2. Old Business
We have started planning on things we can do for Operation Christmas Child. People chose their own groups that they wanted to be with according to gender and age. We will begin decorating and picking out materials for our boxes next week.

We are still brain-storming for the dance, which will be further talked about in the after-school meeting next week. The main things we will be discussing are the following:

  • Cost
  • Dress Code
  • Theme
  • Time
3. New Business

Monday has been our official announcement day. We will be going to make announcements to your homeroom at 9:30 to cease disruptment to other's R-Time.

Our first SGA after-school meeting is taking place Wednesday, November 3, 2010. It will be held in Mr. Huffman's room at 4:30 P.M. Our main topic will be the December Dance.  Wear your SGA shirts to school that day.

The County SGA fundraiser for this year is Friends of the Cancer Center.

1. Minutes
We talked about Mr. And Ms. Cross Creek. The winners of the pageant were Imani Chew and Michael Davis.  The first runner ups were Alec Smith and Eshany Edwards. Second runner up was Ariel Spiotti. We raised $1,500 in sponsorships and an estimated $200-$300 at the Mr. and Mrs. Cross Creek Pageant.

2. Old Business
We have received our shirts for SGA and we will be wearing them for Reading Rocks. Reading Rocks will be on October 16. 2010. Member will have to be there at least 8: 30 A.M.  Flyers for Operation Christmas Child were passed out to homeroom teachers and the project has started.

3. New Business
We will begin Senior Appreciation.
SGA Inductions will be on October 19, 2010. You will have to dress up to be inducted. Parents are welcome.

1. Minutes
On September 10,2010, we chose the charity and community service chair person. The chair person for the charity service group is Kayla Pearson. The chair person for the community service group is Ocie Stroud.
The people on the charity service are the following:

The remaining people are in the community service group.

In order to raise money for Reading Rocks, we have decided to do a raffle. The following items are going on sale September 10, 2010 and ends September 29, 2010. The drawing for tickets are going to place on October 1, 2010.
  • 2 Gig. iPod shuffle
  • $20 gift card to Carmike's theater. (Those include Westwood and Market Fair.)
  • $10 gidt card to Cici's Pizza
The tickets are $1 for one ticket and $5 for eight tickets.

Spirit Week committee has come up with five ideas and explinations for our spirit week.
  • Pajama Day
Students will not be able to wear shorts that are not above the knees, spaghetti straps, no holes that show skin above the knees, no lace, and no big shirts with nothing underneath.

  • Tacky Day
Dress as tacky as you can, but always follow dress code.

  • Geek Day
Dress as geeky as you can but following the dress code.

  • Flashback Day
Dress like famous people or old styles from the '70s or '80s. No shorts or skirts above the kneews, no tank tops, mid drifts, sleeves, and always follow the dress code.

  • School Pride Day
Wear school colors and represent your graduating class.

New Business
SGA has also adopted a shirt that we have chosen to be our official SGA shirt.

The T- Shirt Committee was formed. SGA committee volunteered to help with school wide Blood Drive and to put posters around the campus.
